Research Interests & Goals:
Kenneth A. Bollen is the H. R. Immerwahr Distinguished Professor of Sociology and an Adjunct Professor of Statistics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is the former Director (2000-2010) of the Odum Institute for Research in Social Science at UNC. Bollen is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Chair of the AAAS section on Social, Economic, and Political Sciences, and a former Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. He is the Year 2000 recipient of the Lazarsfeld Award for Methodological Contributions in Sociology. The ISI named him among the World’s Most Cited Authors in the Social Sciences. He is coauthor of Latent Curve Models: A Structural Equations Approach (with P. Curran, 2006, Wiley) and author of Structural Equation Models with Latent Variables (1989, Wiley) and of over 100 published papers. His primary research areas concern the development of new methods of analysis of latent variables and longitudinal data. Current projects include the development of new more robust estimators of latent variable models, the treatment of causal indicators, and mis-specifications in structural equation models.
