Research Interests & Goals:
Jennifer Coffman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Jennifer’s program of research is directed toward understanding mechanisms of change in cognitive development and is directly influenced by her experiences as an elementary school teacher. Specifically, she is interested in the socialization of cognitive and affective functioning in young children. She examines a variety of factors in the home and school environments that may contribute to children’s acquisition of effective memory strategies, metacognitive knowledge, regulation, gratitude, and academic achievement. Additionally, she is interested in general questions regarding the contexts that support children’s adaptation and learning. As the Associate Director for Training and Research at the CDS,
